News:
On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, Occupy Daytona Beach, in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and millions around the globe, will be participating in the May Day General Strike! That means NO WORK - NO SCHOOL - NO CHORES - NO SHOPPING - NO BUYING - NO BANKING - NO TRADING!
JOIN US for a day of STRIKING and FUN! Occupy the Beach in Daytona Beach! Event is open to ALL. Those planning to attend should bring comfortable marching shoes, signs/banners/flags, sunscreen and hat for sun protection, water to drink, snacks, swim suit, towels, folding chairs, and beach gear/supplies. Can't make it to Daytona? Strike wherever you are! Solidarity!
Why do we strike? Due to an assault on American worker's rights, 50% of the country now earns under 27,000 dollars a year, and worker's wages overall the past 30 years have been stagnant. Yet American families work 26% more than they did in 1979. In contrast, the top 1%'s income in this country has risen an estimated 275% from 1979 to 2009 due to these select few bribing our elected officials to create legislation that only benefits them at the expense of the American people. It is time for Americans to regain control of their country. The only way we the people can combat the stealing of our jobs and wages is by joining together.
